Kerala govt hikes rubber support price by Rs 50, fulfilling key Budget promise

The Kerala government has increased the support price for natural rubber from Rs 200 to Rs 250 per kg under the Rubber Production Incentive Scheme, delivering on a key promise made in the state Budget to support rubber farmers facing higher cultivation costs.

The revised support price will apply to bills issued from July 3, 2026, according to a statement from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) on Monday.

Support for rubber growers

The increase was announced in the state Budget by Chief Minister V D Satheesan, who said the measure was intended to provide relief to rubber growers amid rising production expenses.

The decision follows repeated demands from farmers, rubber producers' organisations and public representatives, who had sought a higher support price in response to the sharp increase in cultivation costs.

Acting on these demands, the state government approved a Rs 50 per kg increase, raising the support price from Rs 200 to Rs 250 under the Rubber Production Incentive Scheme.
