Prathibha Scholarship of KSCSTE: Apply by January 31
Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) has invited applications from students pursuing higher education in Basic/Natural Sciences for the Prathibha Scholarship, a scheme for identifying ‘Students with Talent and Aptitude for Research in Science’ (STARS)
The scheme implemented by the Women Scientist Division of KSCSTE aims to identify and nurture students who have qualified Higher Secondary Board Examination meritoriously from Kerala to avail scholarship for pursuing B.Sc. / Integrated M.Sc. courses in Basic / Natural sciences anywhere in India.
Applicants should be of Kerala origin and should have qualified HSC examination with minimum 90% average marks or equivalent grade for all subjects put together and also minimum 90% average marks or equivalent grade for all science subjects. SC/ST students should have scored minimum average marks of 80% for all subjects put together and also minimum 80% average marks for all Science subjects put together. Applicants should also have secured admission for 3 year B.Sc. /5 year Integrated M.Sc/ 5 year Integrated BS-MS. course in Basic or Natural Science in the specified subjects, either as Major/Honours or their combination, in any of the Institutions or Universities in India in the Academic year 2020-21. The eligible subjects in Mathematical Sciences include Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, those under Physical Sciences include, Astronomy, Astrophysics, Atmospheric Science, Chemistry, Electronics, Geochemistry, Geophysics, Geology, Ocean Sciences, Photonics, Physics, Polymer Chemistry, Geography; those in Life Sciences include Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Botany, Food & Nutrition, Microbiology, Plant Science and Zoology.
Duration of scholarship is initially for the 3 years of Degree course. Renewal of scholarship in subsequent years of a particular course is subject to scoring minimum 60% marks for the previous year of the course. The scholarship could be continued for M.Sc. course or 4th year of Integrated M.Sc. course subject to the scholar scoring minimum aggregate marks of 75% or equivalent grade for the Degree course or first three years of Integrated M.Sc. course. Annual scholarship @ Rs. 12,000/-, Rs. 18,000/-, Rs. 24,000/- respectively for 1st, 2nd and 3rd years at U.G. level and @ Rs. 40,000/- & Rs. 60,000/- respectively for 1st and 2nd years at P.G. level.
