CBSE single girl child scholarship 2025-26: Who can apply and how

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has invited applications for the CBSE Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child for 2025-26.

The scheme is intended to provide scholarships to meritorious Single Girl Students, who are the only child of their parents and satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions, to recognize the efforts of the parents in promoting education among girls and to provide encouragement to meritorious students. All children born together are Single Girl Child of their parents.

Eligibility

The scholarship shall be awarded to Indian Nationals only who are Single Girl Students, who have secured 70% or more marks in CBSE Class X Examination in 2025 and are studying in Class XI in 2025-26, and continue in Class XII in Schools affiliated with CBSE.

The tuition fees for Class X should not be more than Rs. 2,500/- per month during the Academic year. The tuition fee in class XI & XII shall not be more than Rs. 3,000/- p.m.

NRI applicants of the Board are also eligible for the award. The tuition fee for the NRIs should not exceed Rs. 6,000/- per month. The student must continue her school studies in Class XI and XII in schools affiliated with CBSE.

Gross parental/family income should not be over Rs. 8 lakh per annum. A self-declaration by the parent on a non-judicial notarized stamp paper must be uploaded online while applying. The format of Affidavit is available with the Guidelines.

The number of scholarships for a particular year shall be variable and shall be awarded to all such ‘Single Girl Students’ who have secured 70% or more marks in the CBSE Class X Examination in 2025.

A Scholar under the scheme while availing scholarship can enjoy other concession(s) given by the school in which she is studying / other organization(s).

The rate of scholarship is Rs. 1,000/- per month. A Scholarship awarded under the scheme shall be paid for a maximum period of two years. Payment will be made through ECS/NEFT only.

The Scholarship awarded during Class XI shall be renewed for a period of one year on successful completion of class XI. Renewal of scholarship will depend on promotion to the next class securing 70% or more marks in aggregate in the examination which determines her promotion to next class.

The renewal/ continuation of the scholarship, in cases where a scholar gives up the chosen course of study before its completion or if she changes the school or course of study shall be subject to prior approval of the Board. Good conduct and regularity in attendance are required for continuance of scholarship. The decision of the Board shall be final and binding in all such matters. A Scholarship once cancelled shall not be renewed under any circumstances.

Application can be submitted online at this link latest by 23 October 2025.

The facility of processing the application is provided to school where the candidate is studying. All the applications must be verified from the present school where the student is studying latest by 30 October 2025. First quarterly fee slip duly verified by the Principal should be uploaded online. In case applications are not verified the same will be rejected.

Applications have also been invited for renewal of CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship for Class X awarded in 2024. Those who have received CBSE Single Girl Child Merit Scholarship in 2024 should be a student of CBSE in class XI in 2024 and should have scored 70% or more marks in Class XI and promoted to class XII in 2025.
