TNPSC Group 4 exam results: Everything candidates need to know

The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) will soon release the results for the Group 4 examination 2025. The exam was held on 12 July 2025 to fill 3,935 vacancies in various Tamil Nadu government departments.
The recruitment covers multiple positions, including:
- Village Administrative Officer (VAO)
- Junior Assistant
- Typist
- Steno-Typist (Grade III)
- Junior Revenue Inspector
- Forest Guard
Candidates are selected based on the marks obtained in this single-stage examination. There is no second-stage exam.
How many applied and how tough was the exam?
This year’s exam is considered very challenging. More than half of the 100 Tamil questions were reported to be outside the standard syllabus. About 13.89 lakh candidates applied, and 11.48 lakh appeared. This means around 287 candidates are competing for each post, with a selection rate of less than 0.35% — only about 3 to 4 candidates out of 1,000 are likely to be selected.
How quickly are results released?
Since 2013, TNPSC has conducted the Group 4 exam seven times. Results for most exams were released within three to five months. The 2023 exam faced delays of over a year, but last year’s results (2024) for 8,932 posts were released within three months. TNPSC has assured that results are published transparently and promptly.
Why results are expected soon
With the Tamil Nadu assembly elections coming in 2026, TNPSC is expected to release the results quickly to reduce stress for candidates and avoid political complications.
How to check results
