School curriculum reforms to be implemented in Kerala next academic year

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty has announced that school curriculum reforms will be implemented in the state in the next academic year. As per the reforms, changes will be made to textbooks for classes 1,3,5,7 and 9 in June 2024. In the next month, changes will be brought about in textbooks for classes 2,4,6,8 and 10 as well.
The minister also informed that students will receive their textbooks at least two weeks before the school reopening in the next academic year. He also said that the changes proposed in the National Education Policy will not be wholly implemented in the state.‘Certain’ lessons omitted by the union government will, however, be included in textbooks in Kerala. The Minister also stated that the term ‘India’ will not be removed from the school textbooks to be distributed in Kerala.
