NIFT entrance exam 2026: Apply now for fashion design and technology degrees

National Testing Agency (NTA) has invited applications for the National Institute of Fashion Technology Entrance Examination (NIFTEE) for admission to Bachelor’s and Master’s Programmes at 20 centres of the Institute for 2026-27.

NIFT Centres are located at Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Daman, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Jodhpur, Kangra, Kannur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nava Raipur, New Delhi, Panchkula, Patna, Raebareli, Shillong, Srinagar and Varanasi

Regular UG Programmes include -Bachelor of Design (B.Des.), Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech.) & PG Programmes include Master of Design (M.Des.), Master of Fashion Management (M.F.M.), Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech.).

For admission to Bachelor of Design (B.Des) Programmes in Accessory Design, Fashion Communication, Fashion Design, Fashion Interiors, Knitwear Design, Leather Design and Textile Design, applicant should have passed a recognised Plus 2 level examination/equivalent or should have a pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects or passed recognised 3 or 4 years Diploma or passed recognised 3 or 4 years Diploma.

For admission to the Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F. Tech) Apparel Production Programme, applicants should have passed a recognised Plus 2 level examination/equivalent with Mathematics or should have a pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects including Mathematics or passed a recognised 3 or 4-year Engineering Diploma.

Educational Qualification for admission to Master of Design (M.Des), Master of Fashion Management (M.F.M) and Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech) are given in the Information Bulletin 2026 available at https://exams.nta.nic.in/niftee/

Age limit: For Bachelor’s Programmes (B.Des & B.F.Tech), the upper age limit is 24 years as on 1.8.2026 (Relaxed by five years for candidates of SC/ST/PWD categories). For Master’s Programmes (M.Des, M.F.M and M.F.Tech), there is no age limit.

The first stage of the selection process will be Computer-Based Entrance Examinations to be held on February 8, 2026 (Sunday). The structure of the Tests is given in the Information Bulletin.

Application: Application can be submitted online at https://exams.nta.nic.in/niftee/ or through https://www.nift.ac.in/admission, latest by 6.1.2026. Those appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply provisionally.

Details of the Application Fee are given in the Information Bulletin. The fee can be paid online through a payment gateway, using debit/credit cards or internet banking/UPI. Application can be submitted with a late fee in addition to the Normal fee, from 07.01.2026 to 10.01.2026.

Last date for Online Registration for (i) Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) - Artisan Category is February 28, 2026, (ii) for UG / PG Programmes under NRI/Foreign National/OCI/PIO/SAARC category is 30 April 2026, and (iii) for PhD. The programme is on February 28, 2026.
