M.Phil/M.Sc Programmes at GMCH Chandigarh
Department of Psychiatry, Govt. Medical College & Hospital, Chandigarh has invited applications for admission to M.Phil and M.Sc Programmes for 2023.
Applications have been invited for admission to M.Phil (Cynical Psychology); M.Phil (Psychiatric Social Work) and M.Sc Mental Health (Psychiatric) Nursing Programmes. Duration of the Programmes is 2 years.
85% of the seats will be filled from among UT of Chandigarh pool and the remaining 15% seats will be filled from among students who have passed their qualifying examination from institutions located outside the UT of Chandigarh.
Eligibility for the three Programmes is as follows:
M.Phil (Clinical Psychology): Applicant should have MA/M.Sc in Psychology securing 55% marks (50% for SC).
M.Phil Psychiatric Social Work: Applicant should have a Master’s degree in Social Work with 55% marks (50% for SC).
Those with Masters by correspondence course or part time course or by distance education are not eligible for admission to the M.Phil courses.
M.Sc Mental Health (Psychiatric) Nursing: Applicant should be a Registered Nurse & Registered Midwife or equivalent with any State Registration council. Applicant should have passed B.Sc Nursing/ B.Sc Hons Nursing/ Post Basic B.Sc Nursing with 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC). Applicant should have minimum of one year experience after B.Sc Nursing/ B.Sc Hons Nursing/ Post Basic B.Sc Nursing.
Selection: Selection to the Programmes will be based on Entrance Examinations of 2 hours’ duration having 100 multiple choice questions, each carrying one mark to be held on 2.9.2023. There is no negative marking. Applicant has to score at least 50% marks in the Entrance Examination (45% for SC) to qualify in the Entrance Examination. The syllabus of the Entrance Examination is given in the Prospectus that can be downloaded from the Admissions link at www.gmch.gov.in
Application: Applications can be submitted online at the Admission link at www.gmch.gov.in latest by 5 pm on 8.8.2023. Application fee of Rs 2000/- (Rs 1000/- for SC/Third gender Category) can be paid online. Those awaiting result of the final examination of the qualifying course can also apply for the M.Phil Programmes.
Stipend: Those selected to the M.Phil Programmes will be paid a monthly Stipend of Rs.12000/-. Those admitted to M.Sc Mental Health (Psychiatric) Nursing will not be paid any stipend.
