Kerala takes steps to boost attendance and learning for Scheduled Tribe students

Thiruvananthapuram: In a remarkable move to uplift the educational experience of Scheduled Tribe (ST) students, the Kerala Directorate of General Education (DGE) has issued a new directive aimed at ensuring consistent attendance and personalised academic support in government schools.
Under this new initiative, all public schools across the state must adopt the ‘Sampoorna Plus’ mobile app and portal, a cutting-edge digital platform developed by Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE). This tool will help teachers accurately track attendance, monitor student progress and maintain direct communication with parents, ensuring no student falls behind.
The government emphasises the critical role of educators in this effort. “Class teachers must compulsorily enter the attendance details of ST students in the 'Sampoorna Plus' app or portal, and Headmasters must ensure full compliance."
This step comes on the heels of recommendations from the State-Level Coordination Committee, established to enhance the learning journey of tribal students and provide them with the focused attention they deserve.
With Kerala leveraging technology to bridge educational gaps, the future looks brighter for ST students across the state.
