JEE Main 2025: Kerala out of national topper race, best scorer secures 99.996 percentile

The National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the results of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 Session 2 on Friday (April 18). The results are now available on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, along with the cut-offs for JEE Advanced, all-India ranks, and state-wise toppers.
JEE Main 2025 was conducted in two sessions for Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech). The first session took place on January 22, 23, 24, 28, and 29, while the second was held on April 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8. The exam was conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode and offered in 13 languages, including Malayalam. The April session was held across 531 centres in 300 cities, including 15 international locations such as Doha, Dubai, Singapore, and Washington.
How did Kerala perform?
Kerala’s top scorer in JEE Main 2025 was Akshay Biju B N, who secured an NTA score of 99.9960501. Despite this strong performance, no candidate from the state achieved the perfect NTA score of 100. Moreover, Kerala had no representation among the national toppers across any category—General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, or PwBD.
Other major data
Twenty-four candidates scored a perfect 100. Rajasthan had the highest number of candidates with a perfect score. One woman student is among the top scorers.
The results of 110 candidates found using unfair means, including forged documents, were withheld.
More than 9.92 lakh candidates had appeared for the second edition of the crucial exam.
According to National Testing Agency (NTA) officials, NTA scores are not the same as the percentage of marks obtained but normalised scores.
NTA scores are normalised scores across multi-session papers and are based on the relative performance of all those who appeared for the examination in one session, a senior official explained.
The marks obtained are converted into a scale ranging from 100 to 0 for each session of examinees, the official added.
Based on the results of JEE (Main) Paper 1 and Paper 2, the candidates will be shortlisted to appear for JEE (Advanced), which is a one-stop exam for admission to the 23 premier Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
