Indian Navy invites applications for 10+2 B.Tech cadet entry scheme

The Indian Navy has invited applications from unmarried men and women for the 10+2 (B.Tech) Cadet Entry Scheme (Permanent Commission) Course commencing July 2026, leading to a permanent commission as officers in executive and technical branches after undergoing a four-year B.Tech course at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala.

There are a total of 44 vacancies in executive & technical branches for men and women. A maximum of 07 vacancies are identified for women. Branch allocation—Executive & Technical (Engineering & Electrical)—will be undertaken at INA. Vacancies are tentative and may change depending on the availability of training slots.

Age: Applicant should have been born between 02 January 2007 and 01 July 2009 (both dates inclusive).

Educational Qualification: Applicant should have passed the Senior Secondary Examination (10+2 Pattern) or its equivalent examination from any recognized board with at least 70% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) and at least 50% marks in English (either in Class X or Class XII).

Applicants should have appeared for the JEE (Main) - 2025 exam for B.E./B. Tech.

Selection procedure: Call-up for Service Selection Board (SSB) will be issued on the basis of JEE (Main) All India Common Rank List (CRL)—2025 published by NTA. Naval Headquarters will fix the cutoff for shortlisting of applications for SSB based on the JEE (Main) All India Common Rank List (CRL) 2025. All candidates are required to fill their rank as per the Common Rank List (CRL) in the application.

SSB interviews for shortlisted candidates will be scheduled at Bangalore/Bhopal/Kolkata/Visakhapatnam from March 2026 onwards. Shortlisted candidates will be informed about their selection for the SSB interview through e-mail and SMS, as per details provided by candidates in their application form. Candidates are advised not to change their e-mail/mobile number till the selection process is over. Change of SSB Centre for examination/interview is not permissible under any circumstances. Candidates are to download the call-up letter on receiving intimation from Naval Headquarters via SMS/email (provided by the candidate in their application). Any correspondence regarding change of SSB dates should be addressed to the call-up officer of the concerned SSB on receipt of the call-up letter. No compensation is admissible in case of any injury sustained as a result of tests during SSB interviews. AC 3-tier rail fare is admissible for the SSB interview if appearing for the first time for a particular type of commission. Candidates are required to bring a photocopy of the first page of the passbook or cheque leaf where the name, A/C No., & IFSC details are mentioned while appearing for SSB. Medical Standards: All candidates recommended by SSB are required to undergo medical examination applicable to 10+2 (B. Tech) entry. Guidelines for medical standards are available at www.joinindiannavy.gov.in. There is no relaxation in medical standards on any grounds. Change of medical hospital/centre is not permissible under any circumstances.

Common Merit list: Merit list would be prepared based on SSB marks. Candidates declared fit in medical examination would be appointed subject to police verification and character verification & availability of vacancies in the entry.

The maximum permissible vacancy that can be allotted to women cadets is 07, subject to the condition that they should feature in the common merit list. This figure can vary depending upon the number of women cadets selected in the common merit list. However, under no circumstances it should exceed 07.

All vacancies are to be filled as per service requirement and as per statutory guidelines issued in this regard from time to time.

Training: Selected candidates will be inducted as cadets for the four-year B. Tech course in Applied Electronics & Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electronics & Communication Engineering as per naval requirements. On completion of the course, a B. Tech degree will be awarded by the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Distribution of cadets amongst the Executive and Technical Branch (Engineering & Electrical) will be as per the extant policy. The entire cost of training, including books and reading material, will be borne by the Indian Navy. The cadets will also be provided with entitled clothing and messing.

Application: Application is to be submitted online at www.joinindiannavy.gov.in by 19 January 2026. Guidelines for submission of application are given in the Notification. Only one application can be filled by a candidate. In case of multiple applications, candidature will be cancelled.

Only unmarried candidates are eligible for training. Any candidate who is found to be married or marries while under training will be discharged from service and shall be liable to refund the full training cost, including pay & allowances and any other expenditure incurred on the candidate by the government.
