Higher secondary teachers transfer: Administrative tribunal quashes lists, directs revision

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Administrative Tribunal cancelled the list prepared by the government for the transfer of higher secondary teachers. The tribunal quashed both the transfer lists and ordered a new one to be prepared and published within a month. It is suggested that the list be published so that the teachers can join new schools on June 1.
The lists prepared by the government on the basis of home district/ station and other categories have been cancelled. Both the lists will be updated by considering the service seniority outside the home district and neighbouring districts. The draft list should be published within a month followed by the final list after resolving grievances.
In 2019, the government order stipulated that those who have completed three years of regular service can apply for open vacancies and if there are outstation service among the applicants, priority of transfer should be based on the out-station service period.
A contempt of court action may be taken against the Director of General Education (DGE) for not complying with the previous order. In the contempt petition, the Administrative Tribunal came down heavily on the DGE and observed that he deliberately defied the order of the tribunal. Subsequently, the tribunal directed the DGE to appear in person on May 24 and show cause.
