DHR biomedical research eligibility test to be held on December 7

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), 1st Floor, Convergence Block, Ansari Nagar, has invited applications for the Department of Health Research - Biomedical Research Eligibility Test (DHR-BRET) 2025.
DHR-BRET is conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) under the DHR. Award of the fellowship to qualified candidates is contingent upon securing placement in a recognised Medical College/Hospital/University/National Laboratory/Institution of National Importance/ICMR Institute/Centre, under one of the following categories (i) UGC/INI: Pursuing Doctoral degree at UGC-recognized universities/research institutions or Institutes of National Importance in India (ii) ICMR–AcSIR: Pursuing of a Doctoral degree at any of the 27 Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Institutes/Centres with Ph.D. registration under the AcSIR-ICMR Faculty of Medical Research.
Merit will be determined solely on performance in DHR-BRET and declared as per the notified criteria. Selected candidates may enrol for Ph.D. programmes only in subjects related to biomedical/health research.
Fellowships
A tentative total of 250 candidates shall be selected, subject to the availability of budgetary provisions and in accordance with the guidelines of DHR. SC/ST/OBC/PwBD and EWS candidates will receive reservation/relaxations as per Government of India policy.
DHR-BRET-2025 will be conducted by the Examination Section, AIIMS New Delhi. The award of JRFs, along with all related administrative processes such as placement, fellowship disbursal, tenure, and compliance with Government of India reservation policies, shall be under the purview of DHR.
Eligibility
Applicant should hold M.Sc or equivalent Post-graduate (PG) degree (M. Tech/M. Pharma), in one of Life Sciences, Zoology, Botany, Biomedical Sciences, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biotechnology, Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Forensic Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Food and Nutrition, Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, Ecology, Immunology, Neurosciences, Veterinary Sciences, Nursing, Biostatistics, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Public Health, Social Work with minimum55% marks in PG (50% for SC/ST and PwBD candidates). Those appearing/has appeared in the final year (IV/VI Semester whichever is applicable, and final year where semester system is not there) of M.Sc. or equivalent postgraduate test during the session 2025 can also apply for the test as RA (Result Awaited). Such candidates have to submit the prescribed attestation format (Appendix E of the Advertisement at https://www.aiimsexams.ac.in/ (Academic Courses > Doctoral > BRET links) duly certified by the Head of the Department/Institute over his/her signature and official seal/stamp with address and name, where he/she is appearing in the final year PG test. Such candidates will be admitted to the Test provisionally and will be considered eligible for JRF only after they submit proof of having passed the Master’s Degree test with requisite percentage.
Age Limit is 35 years as on 21.11.2025, the last date to apply. Age relaxation (in years): SC/ST, PwBD, Females -5 years, OBC-3 years.
Scheme of Examination
Examination will be a Computer Based Test (CBT) of 180 minutes’ duration with medium, English only to be held on 7.12.2025. There will be 150 objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs), carrying 1 mark for each correct response and –0.25 mark for each incorrect response. Question paper will have Sections, A (Aptitude and Analytical Skills), B (General & Interdisciplinary Knowledge) and C (Domain-Specific Knowledge) of the prescribed syllabus details of which are given in the Notice.
States in which examination is planned to be conducted is given in the Advertisement. Applicants are required to indicate his/her choice of three states, in order of preference, for appearing in the examination.
Application fee is Rs. 2000/- (Rs. 1600/- for SC/ST/EWS Category). There is no application fee for PwBD category applicants. Application fee may be paid through Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking.

Status of application form will be notified on 24.11.2025. Correction of rejected Images has to be completed by 5 pm on 26.11.2025. Admit Card can be downloaded from 1.12.2025.
Expected date of declaration of DHR-BRET-2025 Result will be announced later.
