Child rights commission bats for guidelines for physical education training

Thamarassery: The Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights ordered the general education department of the state to prepare guidelines for physical education of school students.

Accused in POCSO cases in which police have submitted the charge sheet shall not be appointed to positions that require mingling with children. The commission asked the education department and home department to issue orders to this effect.

The commission instructed the Thamarassery police SHO to complete investigation and file charge sheet in the cases on sexual harassment against a physical education teacher in the district. The school management was directed to complete the department-level action against him.

The commission member B Babitha was asked to file progress report on the orders in two months.

  • Form a complaints redressal committee comprising head teacher, school councillor, and athlete students to address issues

  • Compulsory presence of lady staff during the training of girl athletes

  • Girls-only hostels shall be controlled by women staff

  • Trainers must deal with students friendly

  • A women staff or parent in teams travelling to faraway places for matches
