CEED 2026 to be held on January 18: Registration open till October 31

Applications have been invited for the Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) conducted by IIT Bombay for admission to Master of Design (MDes) programmes at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, IIITDM Jabalpur, IIITDM Kancheepuram and PhD programmes at several IITs.

The details of the Programs offered at various institutions is given in the Information Brochure of CEED 2026 available at https://www.ceed.iitb.ac.in/

Other institutions may use CEED 2026 score for their admissions. The list of such institutions as of date and the list of institutions that used CEED 2025 score are given in the brochure.

Eligibility

Applicant must have completed a Graduate Degree/Diploma/Postgraduate degree program of a minimum of 3 years (after 10+2 level) or must be appearing for the final examination of such a program by July 2026 or must have passed the GD Arts Diploma program (10+5 level) by July 2026. The eligibility criteria for admission to various institutes may differ from those for appearing for CEED. Applicants must check whether they meet the required eligibility criteria for admission to various institutes, before applying for CEED.

There is no age limit to appear for CEED. One can appear for CEED any number of times.

CEED 2026 will be conducted on January 18, 2026 (Sunday), from 9 am to 12 noon. This examination will consist of two parts, Part-A and Part-B. Candidates must attempt questions from both the parts.

Part-A will be conducted from 9 am to 10 am followed by Part-B from 10 am to 12 noon.

Part-A (Total marks: 150; Maximum time: 1 hour) will be a computer-based test.

Part-B (Total marks: 100; Maximum time: 2 hours) will have five questions to test design, drawing and writing skills. The questions in Part-B will be displayed on the computer screen, and the answers should be written in the answer book provided by the invigilator. Part-B answer books will be evaluated manually only for candidates shortlisted from Part-A. The detailed structure of the test, syllabus, etc., is given in the Information Brochure.

The CEED 2026 score is valid for one year from the date of declaration of the result.

Application

Application for CEED 2026 can be submitted online at https://www.ceed.iitb.ac.in/ by October 31, 2025.

Registration fees

Registration fee is Rs. 2000/- for women and SC/ST/PwD candidates. It is Rs. 4000/- for all other candidates. The registration fee has to be paid online.

Online registration with an additional late fee of Rs. 500/- irrespective of category, can be done up to 5 pm on November 7, 2025.

Results are expected to be declared by March 04, 2026. After qualifying, candidates must apply to the respective institutes for admission and fulfil other requirements, such as tests and/or interviews, of the respective institutes to become eligible for admission. The announcement for admission to the postgraduate programmes in design will be notified separately by these institutes. Candidates are advised to visit the websites of the respective institutes for information and application procedures for their programmes.
