Admission of students who submitted fake documents cancelled

Thiruvananthapuram: Two students who tried to enrol themselves into two colleges under the Kerala University via sports quota by submitting fake documents were held by the officials. The incidents happened at the Kollam Don Bosco College and NSS College.
The college authorities who grew suspicious about the certificates, sent them to the state Sports Council for verification. The council declared the certificates as fake. As the issue came into the notice of the Save University Campaign Committee, they requested the authorities to thoroughly verify the details of students before giving them admission in sports quota.
The students had submitted fake certificates claiming that they had secured third position in the state amateur boxing championship. As per the rules, only students who secure first three positions in any of the sports competitions will be considered for admissions via sports quota.
The colleges cancelled the admission of students after they were found guilty of forging documents; they had claimed to have won the third position in a competition in which they actually finished at fifth position in the points table.
Kerala University Registrar Dr KS Anilkumar said that the authorities had requested the police to launch an investigation into the incidents.
