Admission to state's first four-year honours UG course begins next month at Kerala University

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala University has decided to launch four-year degree programmes in September 2023. The syndicate which met on Thursday (Aug 24) approved a four-year BA honours with research degree programme. 

The new course will cover three subject areas- political science with international relations, economics and history. For the initial two years, the general stream will be followed and upon completion of the second year, students can choose a subject that interests them. This innovative course will come under the newly established Center for Undergraduate Studies at the Karyavattom campus. A notification at the national level for admission will be issued on September 5. The admission procedures will begin from September 20 onwards.

Upon completion of three years, the students will get a degree and after completing the four-year course, they will receive an honours research degree. The four-year course consists of four main components: foundation course, major-minor courses and research.
