Ministry of External Affairs opens Senior Policy Specialist roles in New Delhi: Apply now

The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, Jawahar Lal Nehru Bhawan, 23-D Janpath, New Delhi, has invited applications for the engagement of 2 Senior Policy Specialists in the Multilateral Economic Relations (MER) Division of the Ministry on a contractual basis.

The period of consultancy will be for one year. The contract can be extended further depending on the assessment of performance, mutual willingness and depending on the requirement. The contract may be terminated on one month’s notice from either side or on payment of one month’s pay in lieu thereof.

Remuneration & Entitlements

The remuneration package will be commensurate with the experience and profile of the selected candidate, subject to a maximum of Rs. 2.75 lakh per month each and deduction of applicable taxes. Qualifications

The applicant should be an Indian national and should possess a higher qualification (master’s or above) from a reputed Indian or international institution/university in economics/development cooperation/development partnership/international relations/international law/international development/strategic studies/public administration/international trade/environment and climate/trade/agriculture/labor economics/energy/health/disaster management/anti-corruption or a related subject.

The applicant should have at least five years of experience in handling multilateral work in UN agencies, international organizations, international consultancy organizations or Government of India, in relevant fields; preferably have experience of participating in international meetings; possess good writing and analytical skills and experience in policy making and advocacy; experience in speech writing, analytical writing and preparing negotiation strategy; proficiency in use of computers (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Applicant should not be more than 45 years of age as of the last date of submission of the application.

Applications will be accepted till 1730 hrs on 16th January, 2026.

The Ministry of External Affairs will review the applications and shortlist the candidates for interview/written test. The shortlisted candidates will be intimated by email. The date, time and venue of the interview will be conveyed through email at the email address provided by the applicants.
