Combined Defence Services Examination II 2024 on 1 September 2024
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has invited applications for the Combined Defence Services Examination (II), 2024 to be held on September 1 2024.
CDS Examination II is for admission to the following courses (i) Indian Military Academy, Dehradun - 100 vacancies [including 13 vacancies reserved for NCC `C’ (Army Wing) holders] (ii) Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala - 32 [including 06 vacancies for NCC ‘C’ Certificate (Naval Wing) holders] (iii) Air Force Academy, Hyderabad - 32 [including 03 vacancies are reserved for NCC ‘C’ Certificate (Air Wing) holders through NCC Special Entry] (the 3 courses commence in July 2025) (iv) Officers’ Training academy, Chennai (Madras) - SSC (Men) (NT) (UPSC) - 276 (v) Officers Training Academy, Chennai (Madras) - SSC Women (NT) (UPSC) - 19 (the 2 Course commence in October, 2025) (Total 459 vacancies).
Eligibility: Applicant should satisfy the Nationality condition given in the detailed Notification at https://upsc.gov.in/
Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status: (i) For IMA-unmarried males born not earlier than 02nd July, 2001 and not later than 1st July, 2006 (ii) For Indian Naval Academy- Unmarried males born not earlier than 02nd July, 2001 and not later than 1st July, 2006 (iii) For Air Force Academy- Age: 20 to 24 years as on 1st July, 2025 (born not earlier than 2nd July, 2001 and not later than 1st July, 2005). Upper age limit for those holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 years (born not earlier than 2nd July, 1999 and not later than 1st July, 2005).
Educational Qualifications: (i) For I.M.A. and Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai- Degree of a recognised University or equivalent (ii) For Indian Naval Academy-Degree in Engineering from a recognised University/Institution (iii) For Air Force Academy-Degree of a recognised University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or Bachelor of Engineering.
Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Combined Defence Services Examination (II), 2024 as per guidelines given in Appendix IV of the Notification.
Application: Applications can be submitted online at https://upsconline.nic.in latest by 4.06.2024.
Applicants, accepting Female/SC/ST candidates who are exempted from payment of fee; are required to pay a fee of Rs. 200/- either by remitting the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using Visa/Master/Rupay Credit/Debit Card/UPI Payment or by using internet banking facility of any Bank.
Scheme of Examination: The Competitive examination comprises: (a) Written examination (b) Interview for intelligence and personality test of such candidates as may be called for interview at one of the Services Selection Centres.
The subjects of the written examination will be as follows: (a) For Admission to Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Air Force Academy: There will be tests in 3 subjects (i) English (ii) General Knowledge and (iii) Elementary Mathematics. Each will be of 2 hours’ duration and carrying a maximum of 100 marks each (b) For Admission to Officers’ Training Academy: There will be tests in 2 subjects (i) English and (ii) General Knowledge. Each test will be of 2 hours’ duration and carry 100 marks each. The papers in all the subjects will consist of objective type questions only. The question papers (Test Booklets) of General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics will be set bilingually in Hindi as well as English.
