National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) MDS 2024: Apply by 19th February 2024

National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) New Delhi has invited applications for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Master of Dental Surgery (NEET– MDS) 2024.

NEET-MDS is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination prescribed as the single entrance examination for admission to various MDS Courses for the academic session 2024-25 which will include (i) All India 50% quota seats for MDS courses (all states) (ii) State quota seats for MDS courses for all States/Union territories of India (iii) MDS courses at all Private Dental Colleges, Institutions & Universities all across the country (iv) MDS courses at Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions. 

It is also a Screening examination for Dental surgeons (BDS & MDS) for the Short Service Commission in Army Dental Corps. No state government/private dental college/Universities shall be conducting any separate entrance for admission to their MDS Courses for the admission session 2024-25. 

However, admission to MDS courses at AIIMS, New Delhi is not covered through NEET-MDS for 2024-25. 

The role of NBEMS is limited to the conduct of NEET- MDS, declaration of the result and handing over the result to the designated counseling authority. NBEMS has no role in counseling and allotment of MDS seats. Verification of documents and eligibility determination of the candidates shall be undertaken at the time of counseling/admission process.

Eligibility: Applicant must possess a recognised degree of Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS) awarded by a university or institute in India; registered with the State Dental Council; should have obtained provisional or permanent registration and should have undergone compulsory rotatory internship of a year in an approved/recognised dental college. One, who after passing the final qualifying examination (BDS or the foreign dental degree recognized by GoI/DCI), is undergoing 12-month compulsory rotatory internship/ practical training and is likely to complete the same by 31st March 2024 can take up this examination, but he/she shall not be eligible for admission unless he/she has completed the compulsory rotatory internship and obtained provisional or permanent registration on or before 31st March 2024 or the candidate produces a certificate from the head of Institution that he/she will be completing internship by 31st March 2024.

NEET-MDS 2024 will be conducted from 9 am to 12 noon on 18th March 2024 as a Computer Based Test at various test centres across the country. The Test will have 240 multiple choice questions with each question having 4 response options/ distractors in English language only. Candidates are required to select the correct/best/most appropriate response/answer out of the 4 response options provided in each question. Each correct response will get 4 marks while for each incorrect response, 1 mark shall be deducted. The syllabus for the exam shall be that of BDS standard and shall cover all the subjects/syllabus taught during the BDS course as prescribed in the DCI Revised BDS Course Regulations, 2007 as amended from time to time. Application: Application for NEET-MDS 2024 can be submitted online at https://natboard.edu.in or at https://nbe.edu.in/ up to 11.55 pm on 19th February 2024.

Examination fee is Rs. 3500/- (Rs. 2500/- for SC, ST, PWD). The prescribed fee should be remitted through payment gateway provided using a Credit Card or a Debit Card or other modes as may be made available and have been provided on the web page.

Declaration of Result: Results are expected to be declared by 18th April 2024. 

Qualifying criteria: In order to qualify in NEET MDS, applicant should get the following percentile score: General/EWS - 50th Percentile; SC/ST/OBC (Including PWD of SC/ST/OBC)- 40th Percentile; UR PWD - 45th Percentile.
