National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination II 2024

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), has invited applications for National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2024 for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the National Défense Academy (NDA) for the 154^th Course and for the 116^th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) commencing on 2^nd July, 2025.

The approximate number of vacancies to be filled based on the examination will be 404 as follows: (a) National Defence Academy: Army 208 (including 10 for female candidates), Navy 42 (including 06 for female candidates), Air Force (i) Flying –92 (including 02 for female candidates) (ii) Ground Duties (Tech) –18 (including 02 for female candidates) (iii) Ground Duties (Non Tech) –10 (including 02 for female candidates) (b) Naval Academy (10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme): 34 (including 05 for female candidate)

Eligibility: Applicant should satisfy the Nativity conditions as specified in the detailed notification at https://upsc.gov.in/examinations/active-exams 

Only unmarried males/females born not earlier than 2^nd January, 2006 and not later than 1^st January, 2009 are eligible.

Educational Qualifications: (i) For Army Wing of National Defence Academy :12^th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University (ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy :12^th Class pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent conducted by a State Education Board or a University. Those who are appearing in the 12^th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination.

Physical Standards: Applicants must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2024 as per guidelines given in Appendix-IV. One who has resigned or withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any of the training academies of Armed Forces is not eligible to apply.

Application: Application can be submitted online at  https://upsconline.nic.in/ latest by 04.06.2024. 

Application fee: Applicants, excepting SC/ST candidates/female candidates / Wards of JCOs/NCOs/ORs who are exempted from payment of fee; are required to pay a fee of Rs. 100/- either by remitting the money in any Branch of State Bank of India by cash or by using Visa/Master/RuPay Credit/Debit Card/UPI Payment or by using internet banking of any Bank.

Selection: Selection Process consists of two stages. In the first stage there will be a written examination having 2 papers (i) Mathematics (2½ Hours, 300 marks) and (ii) General Ability Test (2½ hours, 600 marks) to be held on 1^st September, 2024. The papers will consist of objective type questions only. The detailed syllabus is available in the Notification.

Stage 2 is Service Selection Board (SSB) interview carrying 900 marks for those shortlisted based on the written examination.
