Integrated MS-PhD in Biotechnology at National Institute of Biomedical Genomics

National Institute of Biomedical Genomics, an autonomous institution of the Government of India; P.O.: N.S.S, Kalyani, West Bengal -741251, has invited applications for admission to Integrated MS-PhD in Biotechnology with specialization in Biomedical Genomics, for the August 2023 session. 

The broad areas of research pursued at NIBMG are (i) Biomedical Genomics and the functional implications in the context of Cancer, Infectious disease, Chronic disease (ii) Computational Biology and Statistical Genomics. Eligibility: Applicants should be Indian nationals with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC, ST, OBC (NCL) and PWD)/or an equivalent grade point average, in Bachelor’s degree in any branch of Biological Sciences. Those in the last year of their bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply, provided they can produce a proof of having secured the minimum aggregate marks at the time of admission. 

Applicants should have studied Mathematics as a subject at 10+2 or higher level.

Applicants should have qualified in one of (i) Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS conducted by NCBS/TIFR) held in December 2022 (ii) Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. JAM-2023 held in February 2023, in Biotechnology (BT), Mathematics (MS) or Chemistry (CY).

Selection: Applicants will be shortlisted for interview based on cut-offs determined by NIBMG for JGEEBILS (December 2022) or JAM 2023 (BT, MS, or CY). Final selection will be based exclusively on the candidate’s Interview performance. 

There shall be reservation of seats for students from the SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PWD categories as per the orders of the Govt. of India in this regard.

List of Short-listed candidates for interview will be published on NIBMG website on 14.7.2023. First Round of Interviews will be held on-line from 10 am onwards on 17.7.2023 and 18.7.2023. 

List of qualified candidates for second round interview shall be published on NIBMG website on 18.7.2023. Second Round of Interviews will be held in Off-Line/Physical mode on 24.7.2023. 

Result of the interview will be declared on 27.7.2023. 

Candidates selected in the First List will be instructed to join by 01.8.2023.
