Combined Higher Secondary Level Examination of Staff Selection Commission

The Staff Selection Commission has invited applications for the Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination (CHSLE), 2024 for recruitment to the Group C posts, namely Lower Divisional Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) and Data Entry Operators (DEO) for various Ministries/ Departments/ Offices of the Government of India and various Constitutional Bodies/ Statutory Bodies/ Tribunals, etc. 

Tentative vacancies: There are approximately 3712 vacancies. However, firm number of vacancies will be determined in due course. Updated vacancies, if any, along with post-wise & category-wise vacancies will be made available at https://ssc.gov.in (For Candidates  > Tentative Vacancy) in due course. 

Eligibility: Applicant should satisfy the Nativity conditions given in the detailed Notification at https://ssc.gov.in/ (Notice Board)

Age Limit (as on 01-08-2024): Age limit for the posts is 18-27 years. Those born not before 02-08-1997 and not later than 01-08-2006 are eligible to apply. Permissible relaxation in upper age limit for different categories is given in the Notification. 

Educational Qualifications (As on 01-08-2024): For Data Entry Operator (DEO)/ DEO Grade ‘A’ in Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution and Ministry of Culture: 12th Standard pass in Science stream with Mathematics as a subject from a recognized Board or equivalent. 

For LDC/JSA and DEO/DEO Grade ‘A’ (except DEOs in Department/ Ministry): Applicant must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University. Those who have appeared in their 12th Standard or equivalent examination can also apply; however, they must possess Essential qualification on or before the cut-off date of 01-08-2024.

Scheme of Examination: The Computer Based Examination will be conducted in two tiers, Tier-I and Tier-II. Marks scored by candidates in Computer Based Examinations, if conducted in multiple shifts, will be normalized by using the formula published by the Commission and such normalized scores will be used to determine final merit and cut-off marks.

Tier-I Examination will have Objective Type, Multiple choice questions from English Language (Basic Knowledge), General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic Skill) and General Awareness. There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.

Application:  All the candidates who wish to apply and have not generated their One-Time Registration (OTR) on the new website https://ssc.gov.in will be required to do so as the earlier OTR generated on the old website https://ssc.nic.in will not be functional for the new website. Subsequent to OTR, applicants can proceed to fill the application for the examination. Once an OTR has been generated on the new website, it will continue to remain valid for all the examinations to be applied for, on the new website. The detailed instructions for OTR are given in Annexure-III to the Notice. 

Applications must be submitted in online mode only through https://ssc.gov.in latest by 2300 hrs on 7.5.2024.

Applicant must indicate the Centre(s) in the online Application Form in which he/she desires to take the examination. Details about the Examination Centres and Regional Offices under whose jurisdiction these Examination Centres are located are given in the Notification.

Application Fee: Women candidates and candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-servicemen (ESM) eligible for reservation are exempted from payment of fee. For others, application fee is Rs 100/- to be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or by using Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit card by 23:00 hours on 08-05-2024.

After the closing date for receipt of online applications, candidates can correct/ modify online application parameters, during 10-05-2024 to 23:00 hours on 11-05-2024.
