MA Applied Economics at Centre for Development Studies, Thiruvananthapuram: Apply by April 8
Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Ullur, Thriuvananthapuram, an autonomous research centre sponsored by the Government of Kerala and the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), has invited applications for admission to the two year MA programme in Applied Economics for the academic year 2020-21, commencing on Monday, July 27, 2020.

MA Applied Economics at CDS is a unique programme aiming at providing rigorous training in theory, tools and methods for applied economic analysis, with a special focus on issues of economic development.
Eligibility: Applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with at least 50 % marks. Those of SC, ST & Persons with Disability (PWD) do not have any mark restriction. Those who are appearing for their final examination may also apply. Such candidates, if selected, shall be allowed to join the programme only if they have secured the minimum prescribed percentage of marks in their qualifying examination at the time of registration to the programme. They should also submit the final mark sheets of the qualifying examination at the time of registration.
Selection: Admission is based on an entrance examination to be held on May 17, 2020 (Sunday), from 10 am to 12 noon at Kolkata, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kozhikode, New Delhi, Pune & Thiruvananthapuram. Candidates will be tested for their analytical ability and aptitude to undergo the programme and are expected to be familiar with the course content of a standard undergraduate Economics programme. Syllabus of the entrance examination with suggested text books are given in the website/notification.
The entrance examination will have 100 multiple choice objective questions. Each question will have four choices in answers with only one correct answer. Each correct answer carries three marks and one mark would be deducted for each wrong answer. Question papers of the previous years are available at www.cds.edu.
Minimum marks required in the entrance examination to be eligible for selection is as follows: General Category- 40%, OBC NCL- 36%, SC/ST/PWD- 12%.

Application fee is Rs.500/-. Application fee is exempted for SC/ST/PWD applicants. Application Fee may be paid by way of a DD drawn from State Bank of India (SBI) only in favour of the Centre for Development Studies, payable at Thiruvananthapuram (SBI Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Branch Code - 070029). Those working in Government Departments and Public sector undertakings must forward their application through proper channel along with a no objection certificate from the competent authority. However, an advance copy may be submitted, if they expect procedural delays.
