Apply for All India Bar Examination before November 15, exam set for December 22

Applications for the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) to be held on December 22, 2024 can be submitted till 15th November 2024.  

All India Bar Examination is certification exam conducted twice a year by Bar Council of India for law graduates willing to start practice of profession as Lawyer. The exam is conducted as an open book examination. 

The examination is conducted to assess basic level knowledge of a member and lay down minimum benchmark for entering into practice of law in addition to assessing candidate's analytical skills. 

After clearing All India Bar Examination, the candidate is awarded certificate of practice by Bar Council of India. Qualified member in the exam can attend court hearings in any tribunals courts and administrative bodies. Details are available at https://aibexix.register.smartexams.in/ 

The exam of 3 and half-hours’ duration is in multi-choice model and conducted offline. It will have 100 questions as per the syllabus given at https://www.allindiabarexamination.com/ 

As per Revised Guidelines, Final Semester Law Students (3-year or 5-year LL.B.) without backlogs; Law Graduates who have completed their LL.B. but have not obtained their degree or not enrolled with any State Bar Council; Law Graduates who have obtained their degree but surrendered their enrolment certificates due to employment are also eligible for registration for AIBE. Details are as follows: 

Final-Year Law Students: Those currently in their final semester of a 3-year or 5-year LL.B. degree course, studying at a BCI-recognised University or a College approved by the BCI and affiliated with a BCI-recognised University, are eligible to register for AIBE. These candidates must have no backlogs from previous semesters to qualify.

Law Graduates who have not received their Degree: LL.B. graduates (3-year or 5-year course) who have passed out from BCI-recognised Universities or a College approved by the BCI and affiliated with a BCI-recognised University, but who have not yet obtained their degree are also eligible to apply for AIBE. This includes graduates who have completed their course and are awaiting degree conferral.

Graduates who have obtained their degree but have not enrolled or have surrendered their enrolment certificates: Those who have obtained their LL.B. degree from a BCI-recognised University or BCI-approved College but have not enrolled with any State Bar Council, as well as those who had enrolled but have surrendered their enrolment certificates, are also eligible to apply. Such applicants passing AIBE, will be eligible for enrolment for six months after which they will need to reappear for AIBE to continue practicing law.

All applicants falling in these four categories will have to submit an undertaking and self-attested, scanned documentation during registration as per the format available at https://www.allindiabarexamination.com/

Any candidate, whether currently a student or a graduate, who is studying or has passed out from a university or college that is not recognised/approved by the Bar Council of India, will not be eligible to appear for AIBE. It is the responsibility of the candidates to ensure their educational institution is duly recognised by the BCI.

Last Date of Payments through online mode for AIBE-XIX is 18th November, 2024

Last date of correction in Registration Form is 22nd November 2024. 

Admit Cards of AIBE will be available on 15th December, 2024. 

Examination will be held on December 22, 2024

Passing percentage is 45% for GEN/OBC Candidates and at 40% for SC/ST and Disabled Candidates.
