Admission to Bachelor of Fine Arts Program Kerala

Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Government of Kerala; has invited applications for admission to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Programme 2024.

BFA Program is offered at (i)College of Fine Arts Thiruvananthapuram (ii) Raja Ravi Varma College of Fine Arts, Mavelikkara and (iii) College of Fine Arts, Trissur. 

The duration of the course is 4 years. The first year of the course is a common course and the remaining 3 years are allocated for specialization in Painting, Sculpture and Applied Arts. At college of Fine Arts, Thrissur, there is also a specialization in Art History & Visual studies.  

The specialized branches will be offered in the second year in the ratio 1:2:3 for (i) Sculpture (ii) Painting and (iii) Applied Art. Allotment will be based on the percentage of marks obtained in the first Year University examination and the options exercised by the student. In the case of College of Fine Arts, Thrissur, there will be seven seats for Art History & Visual Studies as admitted in the first year itself.

First and Final year examination will be conducted by the Universities to which the colleges are affiliated while the second and third year Examinations will be conducted by the respective Colleges.

Eligibility: Applicant must have passed +2 or equivalent Examination. There is no upper age limit.

Selection: Selection will be made on the basis of an entrance examination (written/ practical). The test will have 4 parts. Part I – Drawing Test, Part II – General Knowledge in Art and Culture (common for all candidates), Part III – Creative writing Test (Only for candidates seeking admission in BFA Art History & Visual Studies) and Part IV (any one of A–Design test, B-Creative painting test, C-Creative Sculpture Test). Drawing test will be for those seeking admission to BFA in Applied Arts, BFA in Painting and BFA in Sculpture. Only those seeking admission to BFA Art History and Visual Studies need write Part-III. Part II - General Knowledge in Art and Culture is common for all candidates.

Those who opt for BFA in Applied Art or Painting or Sculpture shall appear for Part I, Part II and Part IV tests. Those who opt for BFA Art History and Visual Studies programme shall write Part-II test and Part III test. The applicants who opt for BFA in Art History and Visual Studies and BFA in Applied Art or Painting or Sculpture shall appear for Part I, Part II, Part III and Part IV tests.

Application fee is Rs.600/- (Rs. 300/- for SC/ST Candidates) which may be paid online.
