Beyond festivals: How tax incentives and model availability boosted Indian car sales in November 2025

New Delhi: Demand for cars in India continued to rise even after the festive season, with four-wheeler sales up 19.71% year-on-year in November 2025, according to VAHAN data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) on Monday. The boost comes amid GST reductions and attractive year-end deals, which sustained showroom footfalls and converted interest into purchases.
While car and commercial vehicle sales surged, two-wheeler demand fell slightly, with registrations down 3.10% to 25.46 lakh units. Overall, retail vehicle sales in November reached 33 lakh units, posting a modest 2.14% year-on-year growth, reflecting strong consumer confidence in India’s automotive market.
Four-wheeler growth driven by compact SUVs and deals
According to FADA President CS Vigneshwar, sales of cars were driven by model availability, year-end promotions, and strong demand for compact SUVs. Commercial vehicle sales also grew 19.94%, supported by ongoing infrastructure projects, although utilisation remained uneven in some regions. Tractor sales saw the highest jump, rising 56.55% due to seasonal demand in the agricultural sector.
Two-wheeler sales dip slightly
The decline in two-wheeler registrations was attributed to concentrated sales in October during festive offers and supply constraints in November. Despite the dip, industry experts say the market remains stable as incentives and tax reductions continue to attract buyers.
FADA highlighted that reduced GST rates and dealer incentives extended the post-festive momentum, underscoring the structural strength of India’s automotive retail market.
