Tipplers on the decline in Kerala

Kochi: Following the lockdown imposed in Kerala to prevent the coronavirus pandemic, the number of alcoholics is coming down. Immediately after the closure of liquor shops including bars, BEVCO outlets and toddy shops, around 200 persons had been taking counselling each day. Two weeks into the lockdown, the number has come down to just 10 cases per day. Counsellors working for the Excise department also pointed out that people with withdrawal symptoms have also recovered.
