'Kayampoo' in full bloom in hilly regions of Kasaragod

Memycylon Malabaricum (Kayampoo) flowers are in full bloom in the hill ranges of Kasaragod attracting the tourists. Though it is well-known for its beauty and aroma, the plant is under extinction risk. As the plant is commonly found in laterite area located in high altitude, uncontrolled laterite mining result in its destruction. The flower is frequently spotted in the state these days. The climate change and global warming phenomena might have influenced the plant’s blooming cycles.
