Mauritius gets ready to welcome Indian travellers
The island nation in Indian Ocean, Mauritius, expects around 89,000 Indian tourists in 2018. As reported by news agencies, the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority said that they also expect Indian film crew to visit the place for shooting.
The latest Indian film to start shooting there is ‘Ram Yug’ directed by Kunal Kohli. It is based on the Indian epic ‘Ramayana’, they added.
Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority director Aravind Bhundhun said that they promise 30 per cent discount to the producers for shooting films in Mauritius.
There has been consistent growth in the number of tourists from India recently. The tourism industry of the nation mainly looks forward to people coming for meetings and conferences, weddings and honeymoons.
The director also anticipated that by 2020, the number of Indian travellers visiting Mauritius will reach one lakh twenty thousand. Last year 86,000 Indian tourists had visited Mauritius.
Aravind Bhundhun said that Indian travellers are completely different from European travellers. When they come for a seven-night holiday, by 6 nights they would have visited almost all places. While the foreign travellers spend most of their time in the hotel rooms.
While Indian ambassador to Mauritius, Jagadishwar Govardhan added that the two nations have grown good relations in the recent times.
