Pathanamthitta to revive tourism sector through villages, submits proposal to Collector
Panthalam: The tourism sector was the most affected by Covid-19. With all tourist spots closed down and visitors banned, it is reeling under huge financial crisis. Now, the district tourism promotion council is gearing up to promote village tourism.
Aiming at the short distance travel spots, village tourism makes use of the non-urbanized hilly, forest areas and water resources. Untouched by much development, these offer mesmerizing views with a calm atmosphere.
The proposal submitted to the Collector mentions arranging basic amenities and small food stalls without disturbing the nature.
Trekking, boat rides, campfire and small gatherings are proposed in such areas. This would also help in development of the spot and providing job opportunities to locals.
The feasible spots would be identified by the local self-government bodies and studies would be conducted as the first phase of implementing the project.
