Neelakurinji in full bloom, tourists flock Munnar
Munnar: As the beautiful Neelakurinji flowers are in full bloom, tourists are heading towards the destination in Munnar. It is reported that large number of tourists are visiting Rajamala and Kolukkumalai areas here to take a glimpse of the beautiful flowers.
Though entry in Rajamala was restricted for 3500 people, the authorities were forced to allow 5000 people due to the rush.
A ticket counter was opened on trial basis at old Munnar on Sunday. A new ticket counter will be opened in the high altitude stadium from Monday.
Kolukkumalai region is attracting visitors as the area is decked up with large number of flowers. As the area is under a private tea estate, over 2000 tourists are visiting the area every day.
District Tourism Promotion Council has arranged transportation facility to take tourists from old Munnar to Kolukkumalai. Ticket fare is Rs 500 per person.
A vehicle of DTPC will take the tourists to Suryanelli. Later, the tourists will be taken in a jeep to the main destination of Neelakurinji at Kolukkumalai.
Targeting the rush of tourists in the season, KSRTC started service from old Munnar. Four buses are operating service to Fifth mile in Rajamala. The bus fare is Rs 20 per ticket.
Apart from this, 10 jeeps under traffic committee are taking service to Fifth mile in Rajamala from old Munnar.
