Munnar: The tourists arriving here can now spend nights in tents set up by KSRTC at low cost. The tents have been set up in the Eucalyptus plantation near old KSRTC depot here.
In the first phase, two tents have been set up which can accommodate 4 people each.
KSRTC MD Biju Prabhakar said that the aim of the project was to provide facility for the tourists to enjoy nature and the cold climate at low cost. If the project becomes successful, more tents will be built, he added.
The cost for one person for a night in tent is Rs 200. However, if 4 persons together rent the tent, they need to pay only Rs 700.
KSRTC had begun accommodation on bus project for Rs 100 per night on November 14, 2020. The sightseeing in Munnar on KSRTC bus (2 services) was introduced at low cost on January 1, 2021.
As both projects were successful and profitable, the tent project was introduced here.
