Kerala’s own Cruise Tourism Project to be launched in Tejaswini river
Kasaragod: Tejaswini river, also known as Karyankodu river, will be a favourite spot for tourists with the launch of various projects, including river ghat and water games under Malanadu Cruise Tourism project.
Facilities including river bathing will be arranged in the 10 kilometre stretch of the river from Kayyur to Karyankodu. A recreation centre will be constructed at Kayyur for tourists, including foreigners.
Special facilities will be made for river bathing in the moonlight. A ropeway between the river is another attraction. Ride in a houseboat, water polo and family pedal boat ride will be available here.
Footpath will be constructed on the banks of the Karyankodu river and electric light masts will be laid. A garden and seating arrangements will be made to enjoy the beauty of the river.
The authority has planned to explore the scope of monsoon tourism here.
A mural painting museum will be established in Kayyur showcasing the struggle against landlords and hometown of martyrs. First swimming training centre in the state will be established here.
The tourism project officials are planning to convert the river as one of the largest spot for boat race in northern Kerala.
It has been observed that Tejaswini cruise which can offer a ride through major rivers in northern Kerala will transform Kottappuram as a tourism capital.
Houseboat terminal of Bekal Resort Development Corporation at Kottapuram will be the terminal of Tejawini Cruise tourism.
A floating open-air theatre and supermarket for regional products are also mentioned in the project.
A total amount of Rs 22 crore has been earmarked for the project which will be implemented in 20 kilometre stretch of the river.
The officials are planning to launch a tourism project in Chandragiri river by giving importance to Yakshaganam. It is a leisure boating route in 15 kilometres stretching from Thalangara to Thekkil.
