Helicopter Taxi service now in Thekkady also
Kumily: Heli taxi service has been started for tourists in Thekkady. The helicopter taxi service was started by Bobby Chemmannur group. They began heli taxi service in Munnar the other day.
Helipad was constructed on one and half acres of land owned by a private party, which is 1300 meters above the sea level. Heli taxi service was started without any inauguration in the backdrop of Coronavirus.
The helicopter landed in the helipad in Ottakathalamedu by 10 am on Saturday. Apart from the pilot, five adults and a child can travel in the helicopter at a time. The plan is to run services from Ottakathalamedu to Kochi and Munnar. It will take 45 minutes to reach both destinations.
In the initial phase, two services will ply per day. The number of services will increase with increase in tourists.
Authorities said that online booking will be available with the cooperation of travel agencies and hotels. A trip costs around Rs 80,000.
The heli taxi service was supposed to be inaugurated in January, however, it was delayed due to land disputes. There will also be air taxi and air ambulance facilities along with heli taxi service. The heli taxi service will connect Thekkady to different parts of Kerala.
