Kochi: Exploring the luxury of cruises, Costa Cruises, the prominent group in cruise tourism anchored two luxury ships at Kochi. Costa Luminosa and Costa Venezia are the two ships that have arrived here.
Costa Cruises, an Italian company extended its business to India in 2016.
Costa Luminosa, the luxury ship is on a 109-days-long world tour with over 2000 passengers.
Costa Venezia was manufactured to attract Chinese travellers. It has taken 2,670 passengers on board. 100 Indian guests will board on Costa Venezia from Kochi. The ship is on 8-days-long trip covering Colombo, Langkawi and Port Klang.
“We are glad that our cruise got passengers from the remote areas of Kerala. We found it really encouraging,” said Nalini Gupta, managing director of Lotus Destination and Costa Cruise spokesperson in India.
While Costa Luminosa and Venezia are all set to leave from Kochi, Costa neoRiviera was homeported in Kochi from December to March 2019, catering to 7,000 Indian guests in the three-night Kochi-Maldives itinerary.
Taking into consideration the growing demand from Indian guests, Costa neoRiviera will be replaced by a larger vessel Costa Victoria next November. The latter will have a guest capacity of 2,300 as against 1,500 of neoRiviera.
Costa Cruises is the only company which operate tour to Maldives from Kochi. The company is charging moderate fare which is affordable to ordinary people.
A group of doctors, corporates, solo travellers and families were on-board the cruise to Maldives.
The basic cruise fare to Maldives is Rs 26,800. The fare includes 5 percent GST, accommodation, food, swimming pool, Jacuzzis, gym and cultural programmes.
Meanwhile, fare for children below 18 years is fixed at Rs 9,000.
Costa Victoria, will start cruise from Kochi on November 13. The luxury ship include 3 swimming pools, 4 jacuzzis, 10 bars, 5 restaurants, casino, theatre, disco and ball room. Programmes like magic show, opera and dance shows also arranged to entertain the guests.
