Australian team arrives in Alappuzha reviving its backwater tourism
Alappuzha: The first chartered flight carrying a team of tourists from Australia arrived in Kuttanad on Monday. A team of 50 tourists have come from Australia to enjoy backwater tourism.
Rainbow Cruise arranged 5 boats for the team for sightseeing in the backwaters. They set off in 10 groups. The journey was planned starting from R Block through Kainakary, Champakulam and ending at Aryad jetty.
Though many small groups reached Kuttanad for sightseeing post-floods, this is the first time a big group has come since the floods.
The promotion events organized by the government to revive the tourism industry has helped a lot in bringing this group.
The group was welcomed by Red Cruise directors Jose Mathew, Sijo Alex and Joji Mathew. The guests were welcomed with garlands and lighting lamps.
Divine Voyages Private Ltd owner Prabhukumar arranged the first chartered flight of the year on his special interest.
The team completed the backwater trip by 4 pm and at last visited the Coir Factory in Muhamma.
They will be leaving for Goa on Tuesday and will be travelling across the country for 15 days.
