80,000 kms, 80 nations… Wheel-chair bound Prajith gets ready for world tour by car
Kozhikode: Prajith Jayapal who is engaged in protecting the rights of differently abled and their welfare is all set for his world tour on his car. The wheel-chair bound man who is a passionate traveller aims to take a car ride through 8 continents by covering 80,000 kilometres.
His one-year long tour titled ‘Drive for Disability drive to inspire will commence on December 15 from Kozhikode.
Prajith is suffering from Quadriplegia as his body parts below neck got paralysed after an accident. In 2018, he scripted history by riding car from Kozhikode to Delhi. He visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this trip.
The Prime Minister offered his support to Prajith in his activities for the welfare of differently abled.
“With the world tour I aim to invite companies and organisations from various countries to the Ability expo 2021 in India. Differently abled people should have the facilities in India to live independently. The expo is organised for this purpose,” said Prajith.
In the primary phase of his world tour, he will take a car ride to Delhi from Kozhikode. From Delhi, he will arrive at China and Uzbekistan. He will start to Europe via Kazakhstan and later move to Gulf countries. He will also visit African countries, Latin America and USA. He will cover Australia, Singapore and Nepal while returning from US.
According to his plan, he aims to return to India within December 2020.
In his trip, a doctor and a car mechanic will accompany him. His car will be taken to six nations via cargo ship.
Prajith estimated Rs1.5 crore as total expenditure for the trip. He is trying to find fund for the trip through sponsorship.
Junior Chamber International (JCI) has extended support to Prajith. He also sought help from ministry of tourism.
Prajith will be the first quadriplegic man to take a world tour by car.
