2 more boats to start service in Kanyakumari
Nagarcoil: Poompuhar Shipping Corporation Ltd. Chairman Annamalai said that two more boats will soon be made available for the tourists visiting Vivekananda Mandapam and Thiruvalluvar statue in Kanyakumari. He said this while addressing the media when he came to evaluate the boat services in Kanyakumari.
Presently three boats are conducting services in Kanyakumari. Among these three, the ‘Pothikai’ boat has been taken away for renovation. The construction works of a boat jetty on an expenditure of Rs 20 crore will start soon.
The new boats will be purchased at a cost of Rs 6 crore. They will have advanced facilities. One of the boats will have 75 seats and the other will have 150 seats. He also added that there are plans to implement online ticket booking facility for the passengers.
