Caravan tourism to begin in January: Young entrepreneurs queue up
Alappuzha: The caravan tourism project of the Kerala tourism department has been receiving huge acclamation. Hundreds of applicants registered online within three days of opening the registration portal. Along with it, 30 applications were received for caravan parks.
At present, three models of caravans have been selected for the project. The tourism department will officially launch caravan tourism by January 2022.
The government has offered subsidies for those who invest in the caravan project. As of now, young entrepreneurs who are seeking a change in the tourism sector have shown their interest in the project.
The caravans have been designed as both luxurious and eco-friendly. The project that is being introduced in the public-private partnership model will have the participation of private investors, tour operators and the local people.
The rate of travel has not been fixed yet. It will be set according to the distance covered and facilities provided in each caravan. Tourism director VR Krishna Teja said that the entrepreneurs are showing more interest due to the increasing queries and bookings of travellers. The tour operators expect that caravan tourism which incorporates trips to forests, hills, seashore, boating destinations and many more will add to the fervour of Kerala tourism.
