100 km a day; A Bhutan cycle trip from Kerala within 6 months is Jithu's aim
Mangaluru: MR Jithu, a cyclist-cum-YouTuber from north Paravur in Ernakulam district of Kerala has an ambitious plan - to complete a journey from home to Bhutan circuit on his cycle within 6 months. Jithu who initiated his attempt on September 1 has already reached Mangaluru.
Jithu is able to cover a distance of 100 km a day. The cycle ride is only done during day time and during night, he sleeps at fuel stations. His cycle is worth Rs 70,000. Interestingly, he brought this Indonesian made cycle using the savings when he worked as a cycle mechanic. Meanwhile, Jithu has got sponsorship from Bharat Petroleum, Nehru Yuva Kendra and Decathlon for the circuit.
“I actually planned for this trip way back in 2019,” Jithu said. It is important to note that he is making this ride at a time when Covid-19 pandemic situation remains an impending factor. However, he has been taking necessary precautions and is fully vaccinated.
Since childhood Jithu was interested in cycling. During his school and college studies, he was using cycle for travel. It even landed him in a job of his interest—a cycle mechanic at Cosmos Sports in Ernakulam. Jithu also runs a YouTube channel named ‘Travel With Jithu Cyclist’ which has more than thousand subscribers.
