Experience history and culture at V K Krishna Menon Museum in Kozhikode
The Art Gallery and Krishna Menon Museum situated in East Hill in Kozhikode is the apt place for a one-day picnic. It takes the visitors to the rich cultural heritage and history of the state.
Apart from the museum and art gallery, there is a 3D theatre, children’s park and granite monument gallery for the visitors.
A special wing of the museum is dedicated to late V. K. Krishna Menon, a Keralite and former Defence Minister of India. It displays the personal belongings of Menon. It also displays the souvenirs which he was gifted.
The museum also houses a collection of paintings of artists like Raja Raja Varma and Raja Ravi Varma, the antiques collected from different parts of Kerala.
The entry fee to both sections are Rs 10 each, there is an extra fee for photography.
There is a guide inside the museum to impart knowledge to the visitors on the museum and artifacts on display.
The next is the granite monument gallery. Most of it are from decades ago. The details of each is recorded next to it.
Another attraction here is the 3D theatre. The entry fee here is Rs 40. A 45-minute long 3D show tells visitors about the history of museum and also the life on earth.
Alongside the children’s park, benches are also installed under tree shade for visitors to enjoy a peaceful evening.
Basic amenities are also arranged here. The museum timings is from 10 am to 5 pm every day except on Mondays.
