Love for Mountains: 99-year-old to trek Himalayas for the 34th time
Thrissur: Some say romance dies off with age. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case with Chithran Namboodirippad and his love for the Himalayas. At 99, he is all set to trek the majestic mountains for the 34th time in his life, making us wonder if its Namboodirippad in love with the Himalayas or the other way around.
Namboodirippad, former director of public education, will leave from Thrissur on September 27 along with 136 other pilgrims from Nagercoil, for whom he is an acharya of sorts.
The group also has 6 other senior citizens in the group. They will cover Gangothri, Yamunothri, Kedarnath, Badrinath, Uttarkasi and other such sites during their pilgrimage. Last year, Namboodirippad had returned from the Himalayas on November 2. This trip, he will only be able to spend a limited amount of time on the hills owing to his health conditions. However, once he returns, he will start planning his next trip.
