The tourism Industry had hoped for more tourists inflow into the valley on the occasion of Onam. But the town witnessed the flow of tourists only for two days. A majority of them visit during daytime and leave by evening. The hotels in the hill station are lying vacant for most of the time.
According to statistics, less than 20 percent of the tourists stayed in hotels. On September 18, only 580 tourists visited Eravikulam National Park. Around 440 people visited Mattupetti. The resorts and homestays have been badly affected. As Puja and Deepavali holidays are around, the industry hopes for a revival in the days to come.
