Trekking opens in Thoovanam waterfalls
Marayoor: The Thoovanam waterfalls in Marayoor panchayat has become one of the favourite places of tourists after the monsoon. It is situated 8 km away from Marayoor near Alampetty on the Marayoor- Udumalpet state highway. The Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary houses the most beautiful waterfall after Athirappally in Kerala.
A 3 km walk from Alampetty through the forests gifts a mesmerizing view on the way to the waterfalls, with rich flora and fauna. The trekking to Thoovanam is arranged by the forest department.

The waterfall is 75 m long and 18 m deep. Many rare fishes and butterflies are found here. There are also facilities for sightseeing, watching wild elephant herds, wild buffaloes, deer and Sambar deer from a safe distance.
