French woman travels 2000 km on scooter to learn Indian heritage
Tirur: Deep passion for the culture and heritage of India made French woman Maria trek a different path. She travelled 2000 km on a scooter across various places to delve into the temple culture of the country.
Maria’s maiden visit to India was in 2008. She was attracted to Indian spirituality and music and flew to Mumbai after resigning her job in a musical instrument shop in Belgium. She has let out her house in France and it is her only means of income.
She travels across India for 3-6 months a year and returns to Nepal and other countries. She has travelled to all the places including Mumbai, Gujarat, Benaras, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Punjab on a TVS Excel scooter.
She has travelled a total of 2000 km and is continuing her journey. It has been one month since she reached Kerala. She arrived at Tirur on Thursday.
Karinkali is Maria’s favourite deity. She has also tattooed it on her body. She is interested in Hindustani and Carnatic music as well. Maria said that she liked the village culture and temple arts of Kerala.
