Boating trial run to begin soon in Kadambrayar
Kizhakkambalam: The Kadambrayar tourism industry is reviving itself to welcome tourists. The shores from Manakkakadavu in Pallikkara to Pulikkakadavu in Pazhanganad will be the favourite spot for the tourists with the boating services starting soon. The preparations to conduct the trial run has already begun.
The organizer Basil said, “About 20 pedal boats, motor boats and basket boats have been arranged. The facility to allow all tourists who arrived in a single bus to enjoy boating at the same time will be set up. The suspension bridge could be used once the handle bars are built. All other works have been completed.”
The Kadambrayar is the meeting place of 4 canals in the Kizhakkambalam panchayat. It was opened for ecotourism in 2009. The ecotourism project, which keeps the natural environment as it is, was inaugurated by the then tourism minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
The first phase included building of bunds in the areas where the canals met. Then dredging was carried out in the river to increase its depth to facilitate boating services.
The authorities expect that the water transportation facility will be possible to Ernakulam boat jetty and Chitrapuzha with the boat services becoming fully fledged.
But the boating which started years back was stopped following some technical issues. There are plans to build hotels on the shores of Kadambrayar for arranging food and accommodation of tourists after the transportation and boating begin.
The project also includes facilitating fishing and boating at Kadambrayar coast to attract more number of tourists. The suspension bridge connecting Manakkakadavu in Kunnathunad panchayat and Kadambrayar tourist centre will be opened soon.
