Athirappilly, Vazhachal to reopen for tourists from Thursday
Thrissur: The most sought after tourist destinations in Kerala, Athirappilly and Vazhachal waterfalls, will be reopened for tourists from Thursday. The tourist destinations will be functioning fully adhering to Covid protocol.
Meanwhile, visitors are banned from visiting Malakkappara as it falls in tribal area. Also, children below 10 years and elderly above 60 years of age will not be allowed to enter. The entry time has been restricted from 9 am to 4 pm. Only 100 people will be permitted at the tourist spot at a time.
The token system through new website will be functional from next week.
Thumboormuzhi Dam and Butterfly Park will be functional after safety check as the renovation works are in last phase. However, Ezhattumugham Prakriti Gramam will open on Saturday.
As per the decision taken under the meeting convened by Collector S Shanavas on Monday, it was decided to reopen Vilangankunnu, Peechi Gardens, Vazhani Dam and Garden, Thumboormuzhi Dam and Garden, Kalasamala Ecotourism Centre and Chettuva Wayside Amenity Centre in the first phase.
50 persons will be allowed at a time. Masks and gloves will be mandatory. Also, visitors should record their name and address in the visitor’s register. Vehicles can be parked in parking area only for an hour. Cafeterias will be reduced to half its seating capacity.
In the wake of reopening of the tourist places in the district, another meeting has been convened to decide on measures to be taken ahead of reopening tourist destinations under District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC).
