38 more worship centres included in Muziris Heritage Project
Kodungallur: More number of worship centres in the state that hold historical importance in culture, will be included in the Muziris Heritage Project. As part of first phase of the project, renovation works for 38 places of worship, was initiated.
After the completion of renovation works, the Muziris Heritage Project, the ambitious tourism project will connect various historical monuments, places of worship through water transport. For this, the construction of four boat jetties will also begin soon.
The renovation works is estimated to be worth Rs 3.29 crore. The works are being carried out by the authorities and committees of respective worship centres with centralised supervision.
The renovation works will include installing seating, walkway, restrooms, solar lamps, gates, cycle parking sheds and waste management facilities. Also, boards indicating the importance and heritage of the worship centres, gardens and direction boards will also be included in the project.
Some of the worship centres included in the project already are Cheraman Jumah Masjid, Sree Kurumba Bhagavati Temple, Thiruvanchikulam Mahadeva Temple, St. Michael's Cathedral in Kottapuram and Mar Thoma Pontifical Shrine in Kodungallur.
