Ooty thrives with tourists from Kerala, Karnataka
Gudalloor: Tourists escape to Ooty due to the extreme summer heat. Most of the people are from neighbouring states where they face either extreme heat or extreme summer rains, and hence choose Ooty. Tourists from Karnataka and Kerala flock to Ooty with families during weekends.
The pleasant climate of Ooty is what attracts most of the tourists. The highest temperature during daytime is only 21 degree Celsius and during night it is really cool. Reservations of almost all hotels and lodges have been done in the early summer itself. Almost half a lakh of tourists visited Ooty last week. Traders hope for a similar number of tourists in the coming weeks too.
A fake news which went viral saying there is heavy rain and flood in Ooty had led to significant decrease in the tourist arrivals a while ago. But the travel and entertainment sector of Ooty aims in overcoming all the backlogs set by it this summer. The Ooty Flower Festival will begin on May 17 and the gardens are in their last stage of renovations.
