Jumbos fascinate visitors at Elephant Pongal in Topslip
Marayur: In an effort to spread the message on the need for elephant conservation, the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) authorities organised “Elephant Pongal” at Topslip, near Kerala border in Pollachi, on Friday. As many as 18 elephants were decorated and lined up for the Pongal.
Hundreds of tourists, natives and officials took part in the festival held at the elephant camp in Topslip.
The elephants were fed with sugarcane, coconut and pongal. Huge rush was experienced to take selfies with the jumbos.
Anaimalai Tiger Reserve (ATR) director Ganeshan, deputy director Marimuthu, Naveenkumar, Kasi Lingam supervised the celebration.
Topslip in Tamil Nadu is the only region were elephants take part in Pongal.
